Mouthpiece: Every bong has a mouthpiece. How else are you going to inhale the smoke? The mouthpiece is located at the top of the bong where you put your mouth to inhale the smoke.
Chamber: The chamber of a bong is the area inside the bong where the smoke is contained before inhaling it.
Carb or kickhole: Although not all bongs have this, it’s better to buy a bong that does have a carb. A carb is a small ventilation hole that can be sealed off with your finger.
Downpipe: The tube right underneath the weed, in which the smoke travels down through the water and into the chamber.
Cone, bowl or head: The area where you place your herbs. Some bongs use a small brass screen you can place inside the head.
Now you know the different parts of the bong, here’s how you smoke it:
1. Fill the bong with ice cold water or cheap whiskey (to add a little apple taste to your smoke).
2. Put your herbs or herb mix into the bowl. If your bong uses smoking screens, place the screen into the bowl and place your herbs onto the screen.
3. Take the bong and close off the kickhole with your finger. Keep it closed.
4. Take a lighter and hold the flame right above your herbs.
5. Put your mouth onto the mouthpiece and start to inhale. You will see the flames of your lighter being sucked down into your herbs. The smoke of the burning herbs travels through the downpipe and through the water into the chamber until it reaches your mouth. Keep your finger on the kickhole! Repeat this step until you think there is enough smoke in the chamber.
6. While holding your mouth to the mouthpiece, breathe out through your nose and blow out all the air of your lungs.
7. Take a deep breath through the bong and release your finger from the kickhole.
8. Keep the smoke inside as long as possible.
If you’ve never used a bong before, these instructions might seem quite complex. Try it out a couple of times and you’ll see that practice makes perfect.
