LSD, also known as lysergic acid diethylamide, is a colorless and tasteless drug.

Albert Hofmann synthesized it for the first time in the late 30s from alkaloids extracted from the ergot fungus found on rye.

One dose of LSD can last between 6 and 12 hours. During this time one can experience a series of various powerful effects, both physical and psychological. Among the physical effects we find pupil dilatation, increase of the heart beat rate, increase of the body temperature, sensory enhancement and distortion (taste, smell, etc.), and sleepiness. Psychological effects can vary from subject to subject, and one can have life-changing spiritual experiences, vivid open eye hallucinations deriving from the state of mind of the user, deep thinking, loss of the sense of identity and other powerful psychological feelings.

LSD is sold dissolved in a liquid or adsorbed on a paper square, called blotter, on sugar cubes, or gelatins and it is usually taken orally. Some people, if very experienced and with a passion for punctures, might like to inject it intravenously to boost its effects. A single dose can range from 50 up to 500 micrograms or more of the substance. In the 60s the standard concentration of one does of LSD was higher than 300 micrograms, but a good LSD stamp, or gelatin, or drop (if liquid), contains nowadays around 150-200 micrograms.

If you are a beginner, it is highly recommended to start with half dose to get used to the substance effects and after-effects. It is nothing similar to ecstasy; therefore you need to be cautious. Effects should kick in after 30 minutes to 1 hour, reaching the peak within the hour. The peak can last for about 2 to 3 hours, followed by a fading effect which last other 4 to 5 hours or even longer.

If the effects are not as strong as you thought within the first 30-40 minutes, or if you think you can do more, you can try and take another dose, and another one again, and so on, always waiting around 30-40 minutes before each dose. In this way you have more control on the strength of your trip, and your trip will be prolonged.

Experienced people can decide even to take two or more doses at first, and then keep adding one dose at the time every 30 minutes or so, until they reach the desired peak. This way you will end up having a blast!

If the effects are too strong, and you want to “get off of the bus”, people often rely on Valium, Xanax, or any other relaxing sedative available to you. This way will help you to relax and manage better the trip. If the dose of the sedative is high enough you will fall asleep in no time, and you will wake up the next day completely refreshed, thinking when to experience your next LSD trip.
